The Kama Sutra Translation

Kama Sutra, The Filipino Translation, began as a previously unpublished thesis work that uses Sir Richard Burton's English Translation as framework for mediation. The content was meticulously translated into Filipino by Marvin Reyes in partial fulfillment of the requirements for his Bachelor of Arts major in Philosophy at the University of Santo Tomas, Manila in 2001. The author has graciously agreed to have his translation published by Red Pen Publishing.

The Kama Sutra is a popular literary work known to most individuals as perhaps the closest thing to what might be an instruction manual on love and love-making.

With origins in the Sanskrit Language, the Kama Sutra methodically illustrates what are thought to be effective responses between lovers or prospective lovers; and as such, the text systematically defines postures and body movements that give and heighten sexual pleasure.

In fact, there are seven major versions of the Kama Sutra, the works are considered as sacred literature in India.

Red Pen Publishing's Filipino Translation is rooted in Vatsyayana's version, the “Aphorisms on Love” that, subsequently, has been translated into English by Richard Burton. Vatsyayana is known to be the “great authority” and the “chief guide to Hindu Erotic Literature.”
