Ka Lungsod is a one-hundred-page collection of poems, essays, short stories, photos, and narratives from different authors. The book uses glossy covered matte lamination on a fully colored cover, with gold stamping embellishments. The inside pages are in full color as well, on c2s substance paper. Binding is smythe sewn.
With foreword by the Archbishop of Jaro, Iloilo, Ka Lungsod is the first of its kind in Asia, a book without a table of contents, without page numbers, without even a cover title, targeted for the younger generation who do not like to be bothered with unnecessary details, who do not like to be labeled or boxed in stereotypes.
Trained in the United States and Paris, nouveau artist, Patricia Patriarca, the cover's illustrator, had a unique vision of Blessed Pedro Calungsod as cover painting for the religious-literary folio. In the cover, Pedro is a small figure, almost unnoticeable by the reader at the back cover of the book. This shows how little Filipinos know of the life and the death of our martyr. (Legend has it that he was chopped into pieces and thrown into the sea at seventeen because of his profession of faith.) On the horizon, birds fly against the sun, a deconstruction and a juxtaposition of earthly and heavenly movement. It is the mountain that crashes against the waves, instead of the waves crashing against the mountains, as in reality.
